DOH COVID-19 Update

The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported an increase of 7,887 new coronavirus cases in the state Monday, bringing the statewide total to 563,589 throughout all 67 counties since the beginning of the pandemic.

Sixty-one percent of the state’s total cases are considered to be recovered.

State health officials also reported 57 more coronavirus-related deaths, bringing Pennsylvania’s death toll to 13,981.

According to the Department of Health’s hospital dashboard, 6,090 people are hospitalized with the virus across Pennsylvania and and 1,217 are in the Intensive Care Unit.

Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.

There have been 46,985 confirmed cases in our viewing area since the start of the pandemic, according to the Department of Health, and 749 deaths.

Five hundred and fifty-six new cases and six more deaths were reported in our viewing area Monday.

Somerset County reported 116 more cases, Cambria County reported 107, Blair County reported 98, Clearfield County reported 63, Huntingdon County reported 47, Centre County reported 44, Jefferson County reported 31, Bedford County reported 29, Elk County reported 16 and Cameron County reported five.

As far as deaths, Cambria and Blair counties each reported three.

According to the Department of Health, 3,160,075 patients have tested negative for the virus.
