Elk County Mourns Loss of PennDOT Worker

On Wednesday, Governor Tom Wolf ordered all Commonwealth Flags on the Capitol Complex and State buildings in Elk County to fly at half-staff until sunset Saturday to honor “Timothy Fitch”. Fitch, a PennDOT Employee, died on Monday while working.

The Department of Transportation Secretary issued a statement on Twitter saying in part: “We have Team Members in our communities working on behalf of Pennsylvanians. Some days, tragedy strikes and not everyone on our Team returns home. June 14 was one of those days.”

The statement continued: “I’m sorry to share that Elk County Transportation Equipment Operator Specialist Timothy Fitch died in the line of duty on June 14. We send our sincere condolences to his family and mourn his loss with our Elk County Colleagues.”
