Now for a story from weeks ago in Emporium.
According to Cameron County Commissioners, American Axle and Manufacturing bought the business of GKN Sinter Metals and everything inside the building but didn’t purchase the actual building.
The vehicle axle manufacturing facility in Emporium will be closing in the next 12 to 18 months.
Commissioners say they are shocked.
Many employees have been offered positions at other American Axle and Manufacturing facilities including in St. Marys and Ridgway.
