The Richland School District held an informative meeting about a new program.
The Handle With Care Program partners with the Richland Police Department and Geistown Borough Police Departments.
The program notifies school officials when a student is involved in a traumatic situation or when police respond to their home.
This allows the district and police to work together to increase the amount of support a student receives.
“It allows the school to be prepared to deal with that child who has experienced this traumatic event when the kid come to school the next day.”
The program has already been in use by the Somerset Borough Police Department for a few years.
