A Centre County Church with a more than 220-year history has held its final service. The First Presbyterian Church of Bellefonte was founded in 1800 and held the final scheduled service this holiday weekend. It’s closing at the end of the year due to declining membership and attendance. The Church was established by the same men who founded Bellefonte in 1795 at a time when there were only 16 States.
No word on the future of the Church building itself which dates back to 1872.
