Historic Coulter School House

The Southern Huntingdon County School Board will begin the process to determine the future of the Coulter School.

The one room school house and museum was built in the 1800s and sits on a piece of land that will occupy the future Southern Huntingdon County Elementary School.

Officials say the district’s 3 elementary schools are being consolidated into one school.

At Tonight’s board meeting members will vote on a bid to either relocate or demolish the school house.

The project will cost around $120,000 dollars.

“This evening, the board vote will allow the architects, will permit, will authorize the architects to prepare the drawings and the bid specs for this project to go out to bid, so the vote is just to put it out to bid.”

If a vote is not reached tonight the board will consider allowing an outside group to purchase the building and relocate it.
