Police say a suspect is in custody after a woman was found dead with multiple stab wounds inside a Geistown Borough apartment Tuesday.
Cambria County District Attorney Greg Neugebauer tells us that police have taken Joshua Gorgone into custody after an hours-long search Tuesday.
Authorities say the investigation began early Tuesday morning when a call came in for a welfare check on 54-year-old Denise Williams at the 800 block of Old Scalp Ave.
Investigators say they were able to track the Williams’ phone to her car which was parked outside the apartment complex.
They say her body was found inside Gorgone’s apartment.
“We’re all going to do our jobs and start figuring this thing out and do everything that we can,” says District Attorney Greg Neugebauer. “I’ve spoken with the family members of the deceased and obviously they’re very distraught and very upset as is understandable.”
Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees has ruled the death a homicide and said an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
Officials are expected to release more information Wednesday morning.
