Allowing the big races for us tonight, some of which are still too close to call so Cambria County elections saying that they are still tallying up the mail in and absentee vote before we get the final unofficial results in the city of Johnstown, voters deciding on the race for mayor, four council seats and several referendum questions on the mayoral front.
Democrat Frank Jankovic of seeking a third term, the president and executive director of the Alternative Community Resource Program facing off against longtime foe John Debartola, Debartola had an early lead, but Jankovic then swung ahead and now leads by less than 1%
For the four council spots.
The four Democrats lead the three incumbents Deputy Mayor Marie Mock, Reverend Sylvia King and Ricky Britt and newcomer Laura Hochel. On the Democrat side, the Republican side two former council Democrats, Joe Toronto and Charlene Stanton, along with Charlene’s husband James , was in the top four with about half of the vote in, but is now one vote behind Barrett for the fourth and final spot.
Voters also decide on several questions regarding a procedural changes for city staff and council votes, including whether to give City Council permission to remove the residency requirement for city managers, as that has been leading all night.
