Last week’s Kentucky Derby Winner failed a drug test. On Sunday, Horse Racing Trainer Bob Baffert revealed that an after-race test for ‘Medina Spirit’ had positive results for an Anti-inflammatory Steroid Medication. Baffert said the result is a ‘complete injustice’ and that something isn’t right about the test.
Baffert saying: “All I can tell you is that Betamethasone, even though its an allowed drug, therapeutic medication, I, we did not give it. My Veterinarian, nobody here, as a matter of fact, Medina Spirit has never been treated with Betamethasone.”
‘Medina Spirit’ has not been disqualified, but a disqualification would move up second place finisher ‘Mandaloun’, which was trained by Louisville native Brad Cox. Cox says the legal process for the matter could take months or years.
