Local teams are getting ready for High School Football to start next month. We with teams in Hollidaysburg as they prepare for the Season.
We’re just weeks away from another year of the newly expanded Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference, and we spoke with some teams to see what they expect from year two. The schedule is unique for teams – because teams play the same schedule as last year, just flipping the home and away games. Bellefonte Area Quarterback Liam Halterman saying: “We got a lot of teams that last year that we’ve never even played before. So now we know how they like to run their offenses, how they how they want to play us. So we’ll be more prepared for that.”
Although they lost long time Head Coach Dave Baker – Central looks to repeat as LHAC Champs despite the talent that’s gone. Central Linebacker Lukas Black adding: “We like to have the target on our back. Now, going into it, we might be an underdog. We’re going to surprise a lot of people. We’re going to go out, compete every Friday night.”
For teams like Huntingdon Area that went 2-8, this year can provide redemption. Huntingdon Area Defensive End Landon Wilson saying: “Last year we didn’t do so good and we want revenge. So this is like a revenge tour for us so we just want to win games.”
While playing the exact same schedule gives some teams advantages when preparing, some players let us know there are some disadvantages because if you have a lot of key returners, some teams know exactly how to prepare for those players.
