Local Politicians React To Kamala Harris Endorsement

With the recent news of President Joe Biden removing himself from the upcoming election and addressing the nation Wednesday night, we spoke with local politicians about their thoughts on the current state of American politics.

One thing politicians from both parties could agree on was encouraging everyone to get out and vote this November, especially with everything that has happened just this month.

“We need to work together we need to unite, we need to make sure that we recognize that at the end of the day that unites us than divides us, We are all Americans and we settle our differences at the ballot box, not any other way, get out there and make your voice heard,”

Meanwhile, Republican State Senator Cris Dush says that Americans have gone through crazy times before, and came out stronger.

“This country was going through a lot of turmoil, but we came through it, we’re Americans we can do that, but it took people finally stepping up and saying enough of the craziness and we’ve got to start exerting our responsibilities,”

Dush says he wasn’t surprised to hear the news on Sunday that President Joe Biden, who he called “feeble,” will not be running for reelection. He says many democrats he talked to feel like they are not aligned with the party’s current views.

“My first thought was frustration and anger for the democrats that I represent because they made a choice but they were making a choice based on a lie that had been perpetuated for four years,”

After announcing he would not be running again, President Biden, along with many Democrats including Takac, fully endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris.

“She has experience at all levels of government, from local to statewide, to the federal level, she is the most qualified and most prepared person to step in on day one and lead,”

Dush had a different view on the potential next Democratic nominee.

“She’s shown her fecklessness with the border issues, and anything else she’s basically been put in charge of, she has not shown any kind of gravitas, any kind of ability to get the job done,”
