Monday is National Bacon Day, bacon lovers are expected to celebrate it either at breakfast, perhaps with a side of eggs or toast, or later in the day.
Bacon is no longer just a breakfast item. The United States and Canada make Bacon from the Pork Belly. Other countries, though around the world, use the side and back cuts of Pork.
The meat is cured in either a salt brine or a salt pack. It is then either dried, boiled, or smoked.
On average, about half of all Americans eat at least a pound of bacon each year
