Swimming in the Moshannon Creek at Black Moshannon State Park near Philipsburg has been off limits for the past few weeks due to high bacteria/E. Coli levels in the Moshannon Creek. The Park Managers says they are dealing with goose feces and recent heavy rain, two issues that are causing the high levels.
The DOH requires all State Parks to test their water weekly, but the DCNR has been testing the water more than once a week since the increase. The Park Managers say they’re hoping to have the bacteria levels down and swimming back up and running within the next two or three weeks.
