In Centre County, a new partnership in law enforcement with the county DA’s office hiring a detective to specifically work with the State Police.
Centre County D.A. Bernie Cantorna outlining the new initiative with county administrators
“What we were able to do is get approved of a grant from the PSP Auto Theft Task Force. This is fully funded positions where we will have a second county detective whose assigned to PSP Auto Theft Task Force and will be working in our office as well”
The Auto Theft Task Force description is bit deceptive, as we found out from the job description provided to us by the D.A. Actually the new detective could be working with the State Police on a wide range of criminal cases
“State Police have an Auto Theft Task Force that goes both into auto theft and organized crime and County wide, State wide jurisdictional investigations”
According to district attorney Cantorna, Centre County the only county in the state to assign a detective to work with State Police in this type of partnership.
