New Details in Deadly Coalport Fire

New details are emerging after a man was arrested for setting a home on fire in Coalport that claimed someone’s life. After Jonathan Gallaher was arrested for setting a home on fire resulting in the death of Matthew Troxwell, Court Documents say it was an argument that led to this fire.

On Friday night just before 9pm, Authorities were called to the 600 Block of Main St. in Coalport for a House Fire. According to Court Documents, the Owner of the home says Jonathan Gallaher was drunk and he asked Gallaher to leave several times. After an argument between the two, Court Documents say Gallaher left the home and five minutes later smoke was coming into the kitchen.

Authorities say two people in the home escaped the blaze, but 33-year-old Matthew Troxwell died from Smoke Inhalation. Hours after the fire, Court Documents say Gallaher was seen at a bar close to the scene of the fire. In an Interview with Police, Authorities say Gallaher told them he went to the house to buy drugs and that the Owner of the home was upset with him for using drugs. Court Documents say Gallaher was also heard at the bar saying quote “I sat and watched maddog burn and I’m getting arrested.”
