Sandy Township is investing $1.1 million to install an access road on Industrial Drive.
This project is funded by an ARC grant and Sandy Township match funds.
Sandy Township Manager Shawn Arbaugh said the goal of this project is to build a half mile access road connecting the area behind Walmart to the land behind the Planet Fitness in Sandy Township.
“We just ran numerous issues throughout the process getting this access road installed including some wet land issues out there on the site and some other concerns,” he said.
This access road will open up about 200 acres of land for commercial development
“We really think it’s going to bring a lot of great businesses and jobs to the area,” Arbaugh said.
Arbaugh said PennDOT has held their hand during this entire time , assisting in the administration of this project.
So far he said there are some rumors of businesses wanting to open up shop on this road, “I do think we’ll have at least one submission for our planning commission meeting here on September 21st.”
This project is expected to be completed in November.
