The keeper of the senate “Candy Desk” is giving a sweet treat to members of the National Guard.
The stash is located near a heavily used entrance on the Republican side and Senator Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania keeps it stocked.
Candy makers from his home state pitch in to provide goodies.
That creates a back stock that Toomey’s office is putting to use.
His staff created care packages of sweets for members of the National Guard.
Troops are surrounding the capitol to protect lawmakers after rioters stormed the building this month.
Some 30-thousand guard members could be on hand Wednesday for President elect Joe Biden’s inauguration.
