The Penguins were at the Islanders for game two of the weekend on Sunday. Casey DeSmith was in the net Sunday, and made 30 saves on 32 shots. The Islanders capitalized on Power Play opportunities. They had 5 on Sunday, 2 of which they scored goals on. The first one by Oliver Whalstrom in the First Period, then the second by John Gabriel Pageau. The Islanders up two goals to none.
The Pens were taking shots. They took 20 on the night, but Ila Sorokin for the Isles commanded the net. He shut out the Pens on his Home Ice. The Pens obviously frustrated with this one. Sidney Crosby gets a hit on Anthony Beauvillier. These two were mixing it up all night.
The Pens split the weekend with New York and they don’t pick up any points. They struggled again on Power Plays. When asked how they can improve, Head Coach Mike Sullivan simply said: “We are what we are. We’re giving up too many Goals there. It’s not good enough.”
