Pens / Carolina

The Pens returned home Yesterday afternoon looking to not only avoid dropping 2 straight games but were also hoping to avoid falling out of first place in the Metropolitan Division.

But things didn’t necessarily get out to a great start.

Carolina scored late in the first period and not long into the second Carolina scored again making it 2-0.

But late in the second period the Pens made a huge push.

Bryan Rust scored his 18th goal of the year to make it a 2-1 game.

Then less than 4 minutes later Captain Sidney Crosby scored to make it two all heading into the third period.

The Canes came out flying once again as Jasper Fast made it 3-2 then Sebastian Aho making it 4-2 late in the third.

Evan Rodrigues scored a power play goal to make it 4-3 but the Pens got no closer. Suffering a tough regulation defeat and falling behind the Canes to second place in the division.

Next up for the Pens is a Thursday 7 pm showdown with the New Jersey Devils.
