Plenty is on the line at home Tonight as the Pittsburgh Penguins look to extend their consecutive playoff streak to 16 straight seasons which remains the longest active streak among major North American Sports leagues.
And they will look to do so against a pesky Islanders team that just beat them in a shootout last time on Tuesday.
A win in any capacity clinches a playoff spot for the Pens who have limped a bit down the stretch run of the season. Defenseman Mike Matheson is in the midst of a career year with 11 goals and 17 assists in 67 games and he is a plus six on the year.
Matheson has shined since being traded from Florida to Pittsburgh and has become a leader on the back line.
The Pens know what is in front of them Tonight so there will be a little extra motivation there but it remains just one step on the checklist towards getting to their overall goal.
