Pens / Rangers

It goes without saying but Tonight’s matchup with the New York Rangers is a big one.

With the Pens on the road and only 3 points ahead of the Rangers who have a game in hand 2 points in regulation could give the Pens some much needed breathing room.

This is a crucial stretch for both the Pens and Rangers as the two teams are set to meet twice in the next five days.

So if either team were to pick up 4 points in regulation in those matchups it’ll have drastic implications on the standings.

In hearing Mike Sullivan speak its clear there is one singular focus and that’s on Tonight because Tonight gets the Pens one step closer to the playoffs.

Heres a look at the Metro Division standings.

Pittsburgh sits in second place with 88 points.

The New York Rangers are right on their heels just 3 points behind with 85.

With the playoffs right around the corner and these two division rivals fighting for that 2nd place spot every point matters.
