Pens Weekend Recap

It certainly wasn’t a perfect weekend for the Pittsburgh Penguins who entered Saturday and Sunday with 2 games against top tier teams with no rest in between.

So the challenge was a daunting one but it was salvaged a bit with Yesterday’s dramatics.

Things started out pretty well against division rival Washington on Saturday.

As the Pens held leads of 1-0 and 3-2 before things completely unraveled over the game’s final 2 periods as Washington scored 4 unanswered goals en route to a 6-3 win getting closer to the Pens for third place in the NHL’s Metro Division.

Then Sundays showdown with the Nashville Predators.

The Penguins again let a lead slip away and found themselves trailing 2-1 in the third period before going to work.

Jason Zucker scored to make it a 2-all game.

Then in the overtime it was Rickard Rickell’s slap pass to Sidney Crosby for the game winner and a huge 2 points in the Pens 3-2 win.

In the win Crosby scored 2 goals and tallied his 1400th career point in the NHL.

Sid the Kid staying humble as usual.

The Pens meet up against the New York Islanders twice this week.

Tomorrow they will face off in New York with the puck dropping at 7:30.

Then they will meet again in Pittsburgh this time on Thursday at 7 o’clock.
