The Punxsutawney Area Elementary School hosted the 4th annual Reading Under The Lights event Yesterday at the high school stadium field.
The event was open for and geared towards preschool students and elementary school students up to 3rd grade.
The theme of the night was dancing and the book read was Giraffe Can’t Dance.
Officials say at the event, parents learned a new and different reading activity they can do at home with their kids.
“We do get comments like this is a great idea, we learned a new routine to do at home, a new tradition’ and things like that. And I think it also gives them that feeling of the importance of sitting
down and opening a book, not just watching a movie, but opening and exploring a book together.”
Saint Mary’s area and Curwensville Area School Districts have hosted similar events in the past few days.
