Railroaders Museum Christmas

The Railroaders Memorial Museum in Altoona is going to be holding some special Christmas themed programing on December 11th and 18th until 7:00.

There’s going to be various events that families can enjoy, including the chance for kids to see Santa for a donation of $5.

Children can get a picture with Santa and then that money raised will go to help fund the African American Heritage Festival, which will be held at the museum next
July.

Organizers say coming together, especially during the holidays, is a great way to share stories and the legacy of railroad workers.

“We’ve always tried to be more about the railroaders, more about the people that worked here, and because we do that, we get all kinds of interesting stories.
We get all kinds of interesting responses from people that come in here who, you know, have family that worked at the railroad.”

Visitors will still be able to take full tours of the museum on those nights.

Some of the displays have been decorated to show what Christmas would have looked like in the homes of the railroad workers.
