The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office has confirmed that the two children who were injured in Saturday’s fire in Elk County have died from their injuries.
Officials say both boys, ages 12 and 2, were transported to UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.
According to an ME report, the 12-year-old boy, identified as Aden Mahlon, was pronounced dead on Monday morning.
Authorities say the other boy, identified as Jeremy Mack, passed away late Sunday night.
The boys’ father reportedly posted the following statement on the GoFundMe that has been set up for the family.
“Our family is overwhelmed by the love and support this community has shown us during this unbearable time.
Losing our boys, Aden and Jeremy, has shattered our world in a way words can’t describe. They were everything to us—full of life, laughter, and love.
Aden was so proud to be a big brother, never missing a moment to teach Jeremy a wonderful new song about shapes, colors, or food. They were inseparable, whether it was during their car rides—where Jeremy would often fall
asleep or sharing every snack they could, especially French fries.
The bond they shared was something special, and I’m so grateful to have been a part of it. My heart aches knowing that our boys, who brought us, and everyone who knew them so much joy, are gone.
They will forever be missed, the hole left will never be filled, but may the joy of their memories help us all heal from this tragedy.”
According to reports, the woman who was also injured in the blaze is reportedly in stable condition.
