The Rockwood Area School District is experiencing these shortages due to the pandemic and wages in the bus driving industry nationwide. Now, they say they are finally beginning to make some progress on bringing in more people to drive buses.
Currently, the school district says it has 8 bus drivers and 2 substitutes, and most of them have been driving for the district for many years. On Tuesday, the school district had 8 people attend the training in house, and an additional two or three outside including a school board member.
“Community members and teachers were invited. Anyone who had an interest in driving a bus for the school district had an open invitation to be part of the bus driver training here”
