While Salvation Army leaders in Claysburg opted out of their traditional bell-ringing with the Red Kettle this year because of COVID concerns, they’re finding other ways to raise money.
Leaders hosted a Soup Sale on Saturday at Memaw’s Sweets and Treats in Claysburg.
Volunteers made about eight different types of soup that were pre-ordered by good Samaritans in the community.
Organizers say they had a great turnout to benefit people in the Claysburg area who need it most.
Jeanne Mowry, Chairperson for the Claysburg Salvation Army Service Unit, says the Claysburg community is always willing to help those in need.
“Whenever there is a need, people rise up. People are always there to give us their support, and this is a great well-connected little community,” Mowry said.
