Shop for a cause kicked off today in Clearfield County.
Habitat for Humanity held the first ever event at the Clearfield County Fairgrounds Today.
The sale began early this morning with people waiting for several hours in line to get in.
There were a variety of items being sold including electronics, appliances, furniture, toys, home improvement equipment, plants, Kayaks and more.
Organizers tell us they hope to raise at least 100-thousand dollars to help them build a new home for someone in need.
“Housing is such an incredible need. It’s a place where we build memories. A place where you can begin to realize the American dream. We get to step in and help families that are in need of repairs. We’ve got other families that want to step into that, but they’re not sure a bank is going to approve them, they come to us and we’re able to get them into a home.”
Organizers say Walmart had donated 10 truckloads of merchandise for the event as well.
All proceeds will benefit the Habitat’s planned efforts to build a new home in Clearfield Borough for a family.
The event will continue Tomorrow beginning at 8 am.
