St Marys School Looking to Cut Costs

Despite a $1 Million Budget Deficit, St Mary’s Area School District was able to raise the pay rates for substitute Teachers by using Cares Act funding. The Superintendent says the funding formula, which is being fought in Court right now, greatly effects small Districts like St Marys. Superintendent Dr. Harley Ramsey saying: “I personally do not believe we are getting an equitable share of dollars. The funding formula is going to force us as a District, if we want to keep pace with what the State says we should do, we are going to have to increase taxes every year moving forward.

The Superintendent says they are looking at more targeted spending and getting good returns on their investments.
