The MLB Draft League may be new, but with 39 players selected in the draft, it’s talent can’t be sold short
The Spikes will be saying goodbye to two position players and two pitchers after MLB franchises gave them the call they’ve dreamed of all their lives.
For the Spikes, this is a landmark that didn’t seem possible all that long ago.
With Major League Baseball realigning its minor league system in 2020, the Spikes were a casualty.
However, General Manager Scott Walker says the community fought hard to keep the Spikes alive, and make this day possible.
“Everybody stepped up to the plate, no pun intended, and said ‘we still need baseball here in Happy Valley.’ So, there’s been a lot of change yes, and we’re thankful to Major League Baseball and Prep Baseball Report for including us as one of the 6 founding members of the Major League Baseball Draft League, and I love coming to the ballpark still every day and I love still seeing guys chasing their big league dreams.”
Walker added that he feels the best is yet to come for this league.
