Steelers Recap

It’s been a pretty busy week at Heinz Field so far. The Steelers had a Monday night game, the Panthers on Thursday night and then the Steelers again this afternoon.

There were three games played there in the past week and no losses, but only two wins.

How is that? Well, because of the tie, the game against the Detroit Lions, let’s see how it unfolded. Ben Roethlisberger announced out with COVID last night. So Mason Rudolph got the start at quarterback and he got off to a good start in the ballgame opening drive.

He hit James Washington wide open in the corner for an early lead, but no one expected the Lions to come out and dominate against Steelers.

But on the ground, they did just that. 229 rushing yards 130 by DeAndre Swift Jomar Jefferson had 41 yards and a touchdown before he left the game.

Godwin Igual Buca contributed 56 yards of his own, 42 of which came from this scoring play here. The extra point was missed. The Lions were up six. T.J. Watt had one sack on the game today, but it came at a pretty costly price.

You can see the reactions there. He left the game with a hip injury. That’s something to look out for in the future. Throughout the week now I believe Chris Boswell is trying to make 50 yard field goals his new average.

He has over six this season, three in the last week. The game was tied at 16 here in overtime. Pat Freiermuth fumbles with barely any time left on the clock. one overtime is all we get, so the Lions still haven’t won, but they get a tie against the five and three Steelers now.

Next week, the Steelers will be going to L.A. to take on the Chargers for Sunday Night Football at 8:20 p.m. Now, Big Ben could be back in the lineup in time, according to the NFL’s COVID protocol. Roethlisberger could return after two negative test at least 24 hours apart, but Ben was not the only player missing in action today

Several injuries occurred during the game for both squads. Here’s a look at who went down for the Steelers guard Kevin Dotson and cornerback Joe Haden both ruled out during the contest. Here’s the big one, though T.J. Watt with a hip injury.

We’ll keep you updated on his status throughout the week. Wide receiver Chase Claypool was also inactive today with a toe injury. Now the past few weeks.
