Today at 4 pm all 32 NFL teams were required to make cuts to meet the 53-man roster.
The Steelers had about 16 players they had to move or cut to meet the mandatory roster size.
The Steelers cut veteran Punter Jordan Berry and Long Snapper Kameron Canaday.
After 6 seasons with the Black and Gold Berry will not suite up week one.
Last year Berry did not start the season with the Steelers either but he signed back to the team about 5 weeks into the season.
But now the punting job has been claimed by rookie Pressley Harvin from Georgia Tech.
Harvin was taken in the 7th round from this year’s draft.
And the rookie looked impressive in the preseason.
Quarterback Josh Dobbs has also been placed on the reserve/injured list.
Dobbs was hurt in the preseason finale.
Head Coach Mike Tomlin addressed the media Today before the finale cuts were made so not much said on the 53 man roster but he did spend time talking to his team about the current situation in New Orleans because of Hurricane Ida.
Tomorrow the Steelers will be able to sign a total of 16 players to the practice squad.
So look for some of those cuts to remain with the Black and Gold come September 1st.
