Suspended Somereset County DA Update

The suspended Somerset County District Attorney was back in court Today ahead of his trial on charges that he sexually assaulted a woman.

Pennsylvania State Police say back in September Jeff Thomas went to a woman’s home uninvited with beer in hand, struck her during an argument when she asked him to leave then assaulted her.

Today Thomas’ attorney withdrew a request to try to get the employment files of the accuser.

“This is a very local political climate here in Somerset County. There are people with political vendettas against Jeff inside that courthouse.”

“I think the people of Somerset County thinks this case stinks, that it looks and smells fishy.”

Thomas’s trial is set for June.

He faces up to 50 years in prison if he’s convicted of all charges against him.

Today we also learned Thomas’s wife amy has filed a civil lawsuit against the accuser alleging defamation over the accuser’s attempts to get a protection from intimidation order against her.
