Federal authorities say they’re investigating after nine Pennsylvania mail-in ballots cast for President Donald Trump were found to have been thrown away.
According to the Office of the United States Attorney, the investigation began Monday at the request of the Luzerne County district attorney after issues with a small number of mail-in ballots were reported at the Luzerne County Board of Elections.
Since Monday, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and state police say they’ve conducted numerous interviews and have recovered and reviewed certain physical evidence.
They say election officials in Luzerne County have been cooperating with the investigation.
Investigators say nine military ballots were discarded and have been recovered at this time, and they were all cast for Trump.
They say that some of the ballots can be attributed to specific voters and some can’t.
Federal authorities say they are continuing to investigate.
