Turnpike Safety Patrols

A news conference was held today by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, Pennsylvania State Police and PennDOT to remind drivers of the importance of safe driving.

Now the rest of the week, the State Turnpike Chief Operating Officer Craig Shuey says a lot of officers are going to be out there for click it or ticket for Thanksgiving.

PennDOT expects there to be 625,000 drivers out on the roads this weekend. Officer Sheuy saying most of the recent accidents that have happened on the turnpike have been caused due to distracted driving.

Authorities are also encouraging drivers to be patient as they deal with the high volume of vehicles on the road.

“So over the next few weeks, we’re going to be urging drivers to buckle up and of course, never drive impaired.”
