Authorities in Blair County have identified a suspect in connection to a string of fatal overdoses in the Tyrone and Snyder Township areas.
Police say 20 year old Calil Francois-Moon, of Homestead, Pa, is jailed following an investigation into the deadly overdoses, which all reportedly occurred on Wednesday.
According to the affidavit, police say Francois-Moon was identified as a known drug dealer and was actively under surveillance by state police troopers.
Investigators say he was arrested Wednesday afternoon at the Tyrone Borough Burger King, where he was found in possession of multiple backpacks, a large amount of cash and marijuana.
Police say Francois-Moon attempted to resist apprehension and claimed that one of the backpacks did not belong to him.
Authorities say a search warrant was then granted and executed, leading to the discovery of various drugs inside the backpack.
Police say those drugs included 15 peach-colored pills, four pounds of suspected crystal methamphetamine, over three ounces of heroin, psychedelic mushrooms, and over two ounces of cocaine.
Authorities say they also seized over $1,000 in cash.
Investigators have not identified the victims of the suspected overdoses, other than providing their ages.
According to the Blair County coroner’s office, a 25-year-old man was found dead of a suspected overdose in Snyder Township on Wednesday, and two women, ages 24 and 32, were also found dead of a suspected overdose in Tyrone Borough.
Officials have not provided any further details about the investigation and autopsies are scheduled for Thursday.
According to online court records, Francois-Moon was arraigned early Thursday morning on multiple drug-related charges.
He is being housed at the Blair County Prison and his bail was denied due to his alleged connection to the three deadly overdoses.
