UPMC Altoona Update

Due to the pandemic, UPMC has announced its creation of an in-house travel staffing agency. UPMC is looking to hire 800 workers that are going to travel to its numerous health care
facilities, and those are in Pennsylvania, Maryland and New York for six weeks at a time.

They say workers will be given competitive wages and generous benefit package. Officials say they are using up to 800 travel workers from outside staffing agencies in their facilities,
and this is going to help retain, recruit and bring back workers.

“But the work isn’t meant for everyone, or it can be very isolating. So it is meant really for people who this is a lifestyle. This is a personal choice.”

Officials say they posted the program internally yesterday and have received interest from a few nurses.

The full program will go live for external candidates on January second.
