Today marks the 50th anniversary of the nations withdrawal from Vietnam and multiple areas in our region held special events to thank our local veterans and their families in Altoona.
Community members and speakers gathered for ceremonies at the James Van Zandt Medical Center, where Vietnam veterans were given a special anniversary commemorative pin.
“It’s a very moving, very emotional and very meaningful. It’s taken most of us, Vietnam vets a long time to to understand the appreciation that we are getting.”
The VA Medical Center presented 80 Vietnam veterans and the families of the veterans with a commemorative lapel pin to show their appreciation for the sacrifices they made.
