Vaccine Rollout Goals

President Joe Biden is setting a vaccine goal of 100 million shot in his first 100 days in office with the hopes of expanding testing and availability.

“We need all of our strength to persevere through this dark winter, we are entering what may be the toughest and deadliest phase of the virus and let’s set aside politics and finally face this pandemic as one nation.”

But with limited supplies of the vaccine nationwide, Pennsylvania’s plan is to distribute it in 4 phases we are currently still in the first phase. However, health officials just expanded eligibility to people over the age of 65 and those who have high-risk conditions between the ages of 16 and 64.

That doesn’t necessarily mean those residents are getting the vaccine locally just yet. According to the Department of Healths website, the Rite Aid in Bellefonte and Mount Nittany Medical Center have the vaccine readily available. Whereas, the Moshannon Valley Pharmacy, Weis Pharmacy, the Boalsburg Apothecary, and Mountain Area Medical Center have either not received the vaccine yet, or do not have enough available.

The department of health says, in Centre County, we have nearly 4,000 partial vaccinations and more than 1,000 full vaccinations.

The next phase of rollout includes
1. first responders
2. U.S postal service workers
3. Long-term care facilities
4. Correctional Officers
5. Grocery Store Workers
6. Education Workers
7. Public Transit Workers
8. Manufacturing Workers
9. Food and Agricultural workers
10. People caring for children or adults in early childhood and day programs

If you or someone you know has questions on when you are eligible for the vaccine, or a nearby distribution site, you can head over to the DOH website
