West Virginia Man Wants Post-Sentence Appeal Rights Reinstated

A West Virginia man who was convicted for driving drunk and causing the fatal, wrong-way crash that claimed the life of a Johnstown woman is seeking to have his post-sentence appeal rights reinstated, according to the Cambria County District Attorney’s office.

Chase Turner was sentenced last summer to serve 8 to 16 years in prison in the deadly DUI crash, from May of 2018, that claimed the life of 20-year-old Olivia Red and seriously injured her passenger.

Turner was convicted last May on all seven charges he faced, which included homicide by vehicle while under the influence.

Officials with the DA’s office say Judge Patrick Kiniry is expected to make a decision on the motion by the end of the week.
