Centre County, a previous problem at a county Government Office Building that cost taxpayers thousands of dollars has returned, from the skies above.
They’re back the Willowbank Building birds
“The Black Vultures are still nesting, resting on the edges of the building, and they now seem to be very fond of the 911 tower”
It was 2019 when the county first installed what was termed a vulture deterrent system at Willowbank. The county office building had leaks from above, because of the birds pecking away at the old rubber roof.
Eventually an $8 hundred thousand dollar contract was approved to install a new roof. The Willowbank roosting site drew the birds because of fiber underneath the old roof surface. Now they’re circling and landing again, but so far no damage
“So they were eating through the rubber to get to that fiber so with the new coating there. Were not seeing that picking to get to whats underneath”
The county is concerned about possible damage to the 911 towers and equipment and will explore other Vulture deterrent possibilities.
