Winter Driving Awareness Week

Police and the Highway Safety Network discussed Winter Driving Awareness Week on Wednesday at the PennDOT stockpile. Officials emphasized being prepared to avoid crashes and getting stranded in a Winter storm.

They encouraged drivers to have an emergency kit in case they become stranded. That kit should include batteries, a flashlight, jumper cables, first aid supplies, bottled water, and non-perishable food items. They also suggested that drivers check their brakes and fluid levels during winter.

Officials say the best way to ensure your safety in bad weather is to postpone unnecessary travel.
