Wolf Budget Proposal

Governor Wolf is laying out his proposal for his last budget as Governor. Much of what was laid out involved increasing funding for education. Many Schools across the Commonwealth have been underfunded for some time. He proposed a $1.75 Billion increase in spending for Pennsylvania’s K-12 Public Schools.

The budget includes increases of $1.25 Billion in basic education funding. An additional $300 Million would go to the Commonwealth’s 100 most underfunded Districts through Wolf’s Level Up Initiative, of which include some Districts in our region, such as Blacklick Valley School District. The Governor’s proposal also includes $200 Million in added funding for Special Education programs plus $70 Million in Pre-K funding.

Wolf argued that, thanks to him creating a budget surplus, his proposed budget would not require a tax hike to fund it.
