An Altoona woman is facing charges in relation to a car crash that killed a five-year-old boy in Clearfield County. Jayde Huber was charged with Involuntary Manslaughter after authorities say she lost control of her vehicle and killed a five year old boy in August. On August 18th around 10:30pm, authorities say Huber was driving on Rolling Stone Road in Covington Township when she lost control of her vehicle.
According to Clearfield County District Attorney Ryan Sayers, a 5-year-old boy riding in the car with Huber was pronounced dead on the scene. Sayers says Huber was driving anywhere from 77-84 miles an hour just a few seconds before the crash. According to State Police, Huber told Troopers she swerved to miss an object on the roadway and struck a utility pole. Sayers says Huber was driving on a suspended license, but he doesn’t know why it was suspended. Two other children were taken to the hospital with minor injuries but the relationship between them and Huber is also unknown at this time. Huber faces multiple charges including Homicide by Vehicle and Involuntary Manslaughter. Huber’s preliminary hearing is set for December 30th.
