A long running Federal lawsuit may soon be settled over the status of a former fraternity house at Penn State where a hazing event led to the death of a student
In 2017, Timothy Piazza died after attending a pledge event at the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity House on campus.
Penn State won a court case to purchase the house, but a former Fraternity member, Donald Abbey filed suit.
Abbey provided more than $10 million dollars for renovations at the house, before Piazza’s death, and is seeking repayment.
A Federal Court filing this week indicates Abbey and Penn State have reached a settlement that will also require approval from the University’s Board of Trustees to be finalized.
