Officials with the Pennsylvania Game Commission are investigating after two young children were reportedly attacked by a black bear Monday in Luzerne County.
Investigators say the children, ages 5 and 14-months, were reportedly attacked in the driveway of their home in Wright Township.
Authorities say the children were treated for bites and scratch marks at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, and have since been released.
“This is an unfortunate incident and I’m relieved to hear their injuries aren’t severe,”
Officials say details are limited about the attack and what may have provoked the bear.
Authorities note that if the bear is caught, it will be procedure for the animal to be euthanized.
Wildlife officials remind Pennsylvanians to keep their distance from bears to avoid these types of attacks.
