A regional organization that provides food and other goods to those in need in 2 counties has a busy schedule this month.
As Gary Sinderson tells us it’s all about fund raising in hopes of meeting the need for an ever increasing number of clients.
In Phillipsburg at the main warehouse for the Centre County YMCA’s anti-hunger program the supply the food items distributed to those in need is down considerably
“We’re probably at the lowest for the amount of food we have for distributions.its juts a very difficult time. there’s still a tremendous amount of food being shuffled all over the country, the price of food has not really dropped at all”
The anti-hunger program director is in Orange because its the official color for National Hunger Awareness Month this Month
“So this month we have a lot going on,starting next week. to kick start the week, the Phillipsburg Mounties are taking on the Clearfield Bisons here at home.we are going to host an orange out, so no matter who you’re rooting for, make sure your wearing Orange”
Other Orange themed fundraisers on are on tap, including selling light bulbs and t-shirts. Various events with a single goal fund raising for badly needed money to keep the food shelves stocked-especially entering the time of year with heating bills and other financial issues stretching the budgets for those in need
“Any financial support is greatly appreciated, because it goes right back out there, out to the community”
