State police in Cambria County have filed charges against a Hollidaysburg man following an investigation into accusations that he sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl earlier this year.
Troopers say in February, authorities were contacted by the victim’s mother to report that the teen had allegedly been raped by 22-year-old Trevor Zimmerman in late January.
Authorities say Zimmerman, who was reportedly a friend of the victim’s sibling, had allegedly been staying with the victim and her family for a few days when the alleged assault occurred.
Investigators say, according to the victim, during the early morning hours of Jan. 28, the teen reportedly woke up to find Zimmerman “on top of her” and with his hand over her mouth.
Police later learned that Zimmerman had also reportedly handcuffed the victim prior to the assault.
Investigators say Zimmerman’s DNA reportedly matched the DNA that troopers found on the victim’s clothing.
Police say when they questioned Zimmerman, he reportedly admitted to owning a pair of handcuffs but denied ever being alone with the victim during his stay with her family.
According to online court records, Zimmerman was arraigned last week on various charges including rape, statutory sexual assault and corruption of minors.
He is being held at the Cambria County Prison on $250,000 bail.
Online reports also note that Zimmerman was previously sentenced, in 2021, to serve six months in the Blair County Prison after pleading guilty to similar accusations.
