Debt Collection

According to a 2021 CNBC report, the average American has more than $90,000 in debt. The figure includes all types of consumer debt products, from credit cards to personal loans, mortgages, and student debt. The Fair Credit Extension Uniformity Act prohibits debt collectors and creditors from engaging in certain unfair or deceptive practices while attempting to collect debts. Michelle Nutter from the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General joins us with more information about the law.
