We’re hearing from the Department Of Homeland Security in response to allegations of a hunger strike by detainees at the Moshannon Valley Processing Center.
A DHS spokesperson calls those claims false saying one detainee was treated for flu-like symptoms and some others skipped a meal but resumed eating the next day.
But reports from Pennlive and activist groups claim dozens of detainees refused meals over concerns about food quality and conditions inside the facility.
DHS maintains detainees receive regular meals, medical care and access to communication adding the facility recently passed an audit with zero deficiencies.
